Based off of the movie "Project X"
Arthur, and his two best friends Lancelot and Gawain decide to throw the most epic party of the year of their senior year in high school. Gawain thinks it is perfect timing since Arthur's parents are out of town. They gather all that they need and get there hands on some alcohol for the party. Lancelot goes and invites everyone and anyone without Arthur knowing. Soon enough, the party begins and before you know if, 305 Camelot Drive was filled with more than 200 people. Kay is assigned to be a security person at this party. Merlin is the neighbor who eventually crashes and tries to rat everyone out. And of course there is romance involved! Lancelot gets caught in Arthur's bedroom with Arthur's ex, Guinevere. This creates a lot of tension on top of a party that is out of hand. Eventually, the police show up super late and try to shut things down, but things get even more out of hand.
Hi Meg! I think that this is a great idea and would make a very funny movie. My only thought is maybe Mordred be the one that calls the cops and gets everyone in trouble and then having Merlin be the cop that takes it easy on Arthur. That way it is still kind of sticking to the story of King Arthur a little bit more. I think that this would be a great hit and obviously you can use the success of Project X when you write the business proposal!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the input Grace! I agree with your idea, it makes more sense with Merlin being the cop and Mordred calling the cops. This will definitely help make my plot work well according to Arthurian Tales. Thanks again!
DeleteThis is a freaking hilarious idea, Meg! I agree with Grace's comment about Mordred being the person who calls the cops, he could be like the nerdy step-brother who doesn't want the party to happen. I think Merlin's role should definitely be someone who ultimately wants to help Arthur because as we have seen in the tales, he's like a role model who guides Arthur through his adventures as king. Awesome idea!!
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I admit, I have never seen this movie, but I certainly know what a teenager-party movie looks like so I probably get the gist.
ReplyDeleteI am also in favor of Grace's idea to keep the characters' actions more in line with the original tales.
I would encourage you to explain in your pitch letter why you feel like this is a good extension of the Arthurian legends - what is it about "the greatest party" that is a worthwhile quest? Don't be afraid to get a bit cheesy with it - a party during senior year can be a community-building endeavor, a time to make and share memories with your friends (especially if you think about the class of 2020 and how sad it is to have to finish school in isolation, I think that could be a strong message, even in a lighthearted and fun movie!)
I look forward to seeing your project, Meg!
This is the best one yet! This immediately reminded me of Avalon High just because if you base it off of this you would already have a set of high school characters ready for your party!
ReplyDeletewhat a fantastic idea! loved the movie and I'm sure if you're able to make a spin-off including characters from Arthurian legend that people would want to watch it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! One of my favorite movies, so I'm excited to see what you come up with this. I really like your idea with a love scandal between Lancelot and Arthur just like the movie. Maybe you could have a special appearance of a King Arthur character of the same stars of that baseball guy in Project X, just a thought!
