I, myself, would like to show the potential development of a King Arthur manga. I believe that Arthur lends itself famously to the medium since its a fairly simple story which can be expanded upon endlessly across several volumes. I essentially want to do Naruto, but with King Arthur.  In this interpretation, it would be much more action oriented, showing off a variety of different battles with a plethora of different characters. The story would follow Arthur, who in this story would be less of a reluctant hero and more like a person who aspires to be one of the greatest warriors, which would give him an end goal for the eventual end of the series (this is a common trope to keep readers engaged). The story would start out similarly to the STARZ show we watched in class in which Arthur is yanked by Merlin to becoming the next king. However, Arthur would be much more relatable, Luke Skywalker type character, who's kind of wimpy and whiny. Eventually, he'll come into his own as...less of that. I think this will be entertaining to a lot of people. I also believe that something like this would massively boost the popularity of King Arthur stories that have been lacking in the past few years.

  1. I get the feeling that this would be a manga that never ends and would have so many volumes (in a good way tho!). I think that doing a manga allows you to have so many opportunities to adapt different King Arthur stories into the mangas storyline. Great idea!

  2. I really like your idea! It would be so cool to see King Arthur in the manga format. I think it would be great to have many volumes because you can go any direction with his story in each one.

  3. It's a natural fit! Different volumes could focus on different knights and their adventures, too, so that readers could get pulled into all the different interlocking stories. Since we didn't read the whole Grail quest, y'all missed that aspect, where you kind of follow one knight like Percival or Lancelot for awhile, then move on to a different one, and then eventually come back to see what Percival has been up to while you were following Balin. I think that would be really appealing to lots of manga readers!

I look forward to seeing your project, Henry!

  4. I'm always down for a different version of Naruto (It is one of my favorites). One thing that makes naruto so amazing is the extensive lore and history of the universe. Considering this, i think it would be important for you to include as much of the lore from the king Arthur stories that you can; this would make the manga complex and very rich in content.
