So, for my final project I was thinking of a live-action film that follows the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, but it does so after King Arthur returns from the dead. It would be pitched to the Russo Brothers as they did an amazing job with directing and producing several Marvel movies.
It is the modern day and Camelot is now a city hiding in plain sight. Hiding in the sky using a combination of hyper-futuristic technology and ancient magics long forgotten, Camelot is an utopia of sorts. It now serves a purpose: to act as a safe haven to those who desperately need it. And Arthur and the Knights also have a new purpose: to be defenders of the peace and to act on the behalf of the downtrodden souls who need them most. So, when a conflict rises that has the potential to cause World War III, three teenagers go out on a limb to find Camelot and urge Arthur and the Knights of the round table to end the madness before it's irreversible.
(Title subject to change)
Interesting idea, Jenna! So Camelot is kinda like Wakanda, there but hidden unless you know how to find it? I like the idea of teenagers finding it as the world needs Camelot's help. Will the teenagers get trained as knights, or are they just the messengers to get Arthur and his knights to come and save the world? Who are the main characters you want to feature? Will you have Arthur go out in battle as a protagonist (like in Geoffrey of Monmouth) or will the primary battles be fought by knights like Lancelot and Gawain?
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your project!
I think this idea is really cool. I like how it is a sort of quest for these teenagers to get into contact with Arthur in order to save the world. Would these teenagers have any connection with Arthur or anyone in the Round Table? Will the focus mainly be on these teenagers or is it on Arthur and his knights?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dr. MB and Megan. I'm curious to know if the focus will be on the knights or the teenagers as the main characters. Having them be somehow related/connected to the knights might answer why they're so intent on finding Camelot. It also prompts the question of will they be successful? Not only the teens finding Camelot, but them convincing Arthur and his knights to return to earth, and also if the knights will defeat the problem on earth. Lots of interesting ways the story can tie together.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting idea, it kind of reminds me of Thor in a way. Would you make it so that Excaliber can only be used by the worthy and at the end of the teenagers is finally worthy enough to wield the sword and can be a member of the Round Table? Just a different way to take the story, obviously not necessary if you don't need more detail!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a really cool concept but I think it might be difficult to keep the character's personalities similar when everything around them is so different. How would you make connections between this new story and their pasts?
ReplyDeleteI was totally going to say what Dr. MB said about Wakanda. I'm a huge sucker for Marvel movies so I agree, this concept is cool and is something I would definitely want to see in the theater. If the teenagers were the focus of the film, you might have a bit of trouble with exploring the Arthurian character's personalities fully, unless they somehow represented three characters in a younger modern way (two guys and one chick could be Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere as an idea!).Then, maybe they are next in line to rule Camelot...?!
