I think that I was most surprised with how calmly Will handled Jennifer and Lance. I feel like in the stories he is normally more upset, but in this one Will is described as being relieved. In the book he is supposed to be the reincarnated King Arthur, but for a teenager in high school he handles this surprisingly well.
goodness, yes! And a good thing too - it SHOULD be easier for a high school student to deal with their girlfriend's infidelity than an adult married couple, right? I really like the way that Cabot handled that because goodness knows that high school "it couples" break up all the time! ;-)
Something that really surprised me in the book was that the author refrained from mentioning anything about Merlin's magic. Merlin being able to see the future and everything was so cool in the other Arthur stories that we have read, I kinda missed it in this novel.
Good point, Megan. Merlin's magic is a staple to Arthurian legends and it's not in this story despite the fact that a handful of magical-type things happen. Maybe it works for the book because it takes place in the present where we don't really believe in magic the same way people did in the past. Also, if someone in the story could see the future, it probably would have ruined the reveal of Ellie's character during the climax scene.
